Activate a computer with no internet
No connection on your studio machine? Save its machine file, make a license file on any online device, and drag it back onto the plugin.
Offline activation works for our own plugins. Drum Spice, made with CELEST DSP, can't be activated offline and needs an internet connection to activate.
Activation normally needs a one-time internet connection. If the computer running the plugin has no internet at all (an air-gapped studio machine, for example), you can still activate it offline using a second device that is online. You move two small files by hand: a machine file the plugin creates, and a license file we hand back.
- In the plugin, click "Activate your plugin", choose "Offline Activation", then "Generate Machine File". It saves a machine file (a .dt file) to your computer.
- Copy that .dt file to any device with internet (a USB stick or your phone works fine).
- On the online device, go to audio-spices.com/activate-offline and sign in with the account that owns the plugin.
- Upload the .dt file and you'll get a license file (a .mb file) to download.
- Copy the .mb file back to the offline computer and drag it onto the plugin's offline-activation window (or double-click the drop icon to pick it from a file browser instead), then click Next.
That's it: the plugin is licensed and keeps running offline. Each machine file is tied to that one computer, so repeat these steps per offline machine, within your license's activation limit. Stuck on any step? Email support@audio-spices.com and we'll help.
Can't drag the license file? Open a file browser instead
If the drop zone refuses your drag (you see a "no entry" cursor while dragging), you don't have to drag at all: double-click the drop icon and a normal file picker opens. Choose the .mb file there and the plugin loads it, same result. One thing to check either way: make sure the downloaded file still ends in .mb. Some browsers rename it on download (adding .txt or similar), and the drop zone refuses a renamed file.
Manual option: place the license file yourself
You can also skip the drop zone entirely. Quit your DAW, rename the license file to exactly license.mb, and copy it into the plugin's data folder:
- Mac: ~/Library/AudioSpices/<plugin folder>/license.mb. The AudioSpices folder sits directly inside your user Library (not inside Application Support). In Finder press Cmd+Shift+G and paste ~/Library/AudioSpices to jump there.
- Windows: %APPDATA%\AudioSpices\<plugin folder>\license.mb. Paste %APPDATA%\AudioSpices into the File Explorer address bar to jump there.
Each plugin has its own folder named after it. For example, Anise uses anise-glide-reverb, so the full path on a Mac is ~/Library/AudioSpices/anise-glide-reverb/license.mb. Create the folders if they don't exist yet, reopen the plugin, and it picks the license up. Not sure of your plugin's folder name? Email support@audio-spices.com and we'll tell you.
