Drum Spice - Drum Bus Chain
A complete drum bus chain from two kitchens. CELEST DSP brings the shape: three band EQ, a feedback style compressor with input and output staging, and a tone stage. Audio Spices brings the flavor: a doubler, a slap delay, a Drum Room convolution reverb rendered from our own room model, and a 4x oversampled drive that stays at the same loudness however hard you push it. One switch runs shape into flavor or flavor into shape.
Drum Spice is one plugin with two engines inside, each built and licensed by its maker. The CELEST half runs EQ into compressor into tone. LOW, MID and HIGH are three amount dials over CELEST's drum voicings, the compressor is a feedback design in the FET tradition with INPUT as drive (0 to +36 dB), OUTPUT as manual trim (-36 to +12 dB), and a gain reduction meter that holds the transient long enough to read. TONE has one amount and three characters: Natural, Dark, Bright. The Audio Spices half runs doubler into slap delay into Drum Room into drive. DOUBLER is two short modulated voices per side, cross panned, with a fixed 40 ms spread so the transient never smears. SLAP DELAY is a single darkening echo from 70 to 250 ms. DRUM ROOM is a convolution reverb whose impulse is rendered by our own room model, not sampled from anyone's hall: TIGHT, ROOM or HALL, and a DECAY dial that sets the modelled room's RT60. DRIVE is the Chilli tape stage running 4x oversampled, WARM or HOT, with a measured make up curve so the level stays put and only the tone changes. Every module has an amount and an on switch; each half has its own bypass; the route switch sends shape into flavor or flavor into shape. INPUT, OUTPUT and a global MIX wrap the whole chain. Presets, licences, websites and About live under MENU. Latency is reported to the host for automatic compensation.
